The cause of the blockage in the outer ear
is usually caused by earwax (cerumen). Ear canal has glands that produce earwax
to protect the ear from the ingress of dust, bacteria and foreign particles
that can cause damage to the ears. Normally, earwax can slowly come out of the
ears or can be removed by cleaning the ears. The amount of wax produced
different in each person.
Some people have ear wax production more
than others. In some cases, ear wax can harden in the ear canal and cause
blockage. This condition is more severe if earwax pushed in while cleaning the
ear.
Therefore watch it children often insert
small objects into the ear, for example: beads, earrings, rubber erasers, toys,
buttons or nuts. The insects can be found in the ear canal. Usually such
objects stuck then can not get out.
Symptoms of obstruction other impurities
contained in the ear canal can be:
• mild hearing loss
• Pain in the ear
• Itching in the ear
• Taste full in the ear
• ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
• Dizziness
Foreign body in the ear can cause symptoms,
such as food or insects that can cause pain and redness of the ear canal. In
some cases it can even cause discharge from the ear. As a result, the hearing
can be impaired.
To cope with the dirt in the ear canal, can be done by:
• Provision of ear drops to soften and help
to get out on its own
• Irrigation ear canal with warm water so
that the wax can get out. However, if the pus out of the ear, perforation (a
torn eardrum),
or there is a recurrent ear infection then it can not be done
irrigation.
or there is a recurrent ear infection then it can not be done
irrigation.
• Take earwax with a suction device, clamp,
or special hooks.
Then how to handle the case of a blockage caused by insects?
Before it was issued, there are good insects in the ear canal is turned off or disabled, for example by using a mineral oil that flowed into the ear. This method can facilitate insect expenditure and relieve pain immediately. But in the case of children, often becomes more difficult because children often struggled. To that required general anesthesia before the process of spending insects.
The act of taking a blockage in the ear canal should be done by a doctor, so that the blockage is not pushed further and prevent injury to the ear canal. Foreign objects that get too deep will be more difficult to remove and likely to cause injury to the eardrum and ossicles in the middle ear. Once the blockage is taken, the ears will be checked again to determine whether there is an injury in it. Antibiotic ear drops medicine can be given to possible infection.
There are several ways in which to reduce the risk of blockage in the ear, for example:
• Avoid cleaning the ear by using cooton bud or fingers, because the wax can be pushed into and compacting
• Clean the ear only on the outside only
• Supervise young children to avoid the entry of foreign objects into the ear.
